My fortune, according to my cookie from the Golden Dragon:
I think and that is all that I am.
WTF?
I choose to see this as positive. I'll think positive thoughts, and therefore I will BE positive.
Silver's fortune:
It is better to have beans and bacon in peace than cakes and ale in fear.
I have to admit, these are the weirdest fortunes I've ever seen. Even adding "in bed" doesn't seem to help.
Oh, well.

I hate to get "sayings" instead of fortunes in my fortune cookies. *sigh*
I guess Silver's means that it's better to be poor and safe and happy, than to have everything and live in fear.
I just ignore the fortune and play the lotto numbers on the back!
MG, the funny thing is, she said she'd rather have the beans and bacon, anyway!
BF...no lotto in Nevada! That's what the casinos are for, I guess...
it is better to have cakes and ale in fear, thab think that i am and not be what i am
I actually LIKE Silver's little truism. I identify with that-- have been saying that the wealth of my marriage hasn't been worth the tradeoff-- I'd rather live on ramen noodles the rest of my life than go on in the whole gilded-cage thingie.
I've always wondered where the cookie manufacturers get their 'fortunes' from. Do you suppose there is a fortune writers guild out there? Maybe we should sign up and come up with some good ones.
Someone got paid for writing that fortune? I can't tell if it's really deep or really stupid.....
Maybe there's some computer randomly generating them! That would save some company a boatload of money, in the long run...
I would guess that your fortune was simply a play on Rene Descartes' famous maxim "cogito ergo sum" which is generally translated in English to "I think therefore I am."
Although it was originally part of an essay written in an attempt to use logic and philosophy to prove the existence of God, it is generally cited as the inspiration for the scientific method.
