I don't know about eighty, but there are certainly a LOT of designs to choose from. And you have to pay extra for the special ones, too. So not too many "free" tax dollars, really!
This link will take you to the Nevada DMV, where it lists all the different designs available, unfortunately without examples. This particular page is for people wanting sample plates, but I know that if I wanted to, I could go to the DMV today and switch out my standard NV plates and get any one of these designs put on my car. Insane, isn't it?

I once read that Nevada has over 80 different license plates. It seems like a BS number, but it was from a "legitimate news source."
