I was just on a massage therapist's website and in the policy and procedures it says that one should have taken a shower the day of the massage. Although, I suppose, one could take a shower and still not smell like roses at the appointed time.
Maybe your client was clean as whistle and just forgot his deodorant?
Heh, considering how frickin' hot it is in two of our treatment rooms (and they say they can't do anything about it), by the end of the day *I* sure as hell ain't smelling like a rose myself. ;)
North, I swear...if a client leans over and sniffs his or her crotch, or FEET, I'm not touching that client!
BG, that is a very good point.
'Drea, a shower right before the service would be ideal. Unfortunately, we don't have those amenities at our spa. In Vegas, we had the full locker room, showers, sauna, steamroom, jacuzzi, etc. And we *still* had clients complaining about having to shower before the massage. "I took a shower this morning!" Meanwhile, they've been walking the Strip in 100-degree weather, not to mention have been inside smoke-filled casinos! *rolls eyes*
Old NFO, we try with aroma therapy oil to make it better. Usually it can't overwhelm bad B.O.

I'm not completely sure, but I would expect that it would be worse if he were sniffing somewhere else.
(another email for you)
Mind you.....
At least they're showing a hint of self-awareness.....
WV: summig - Summig smells funny in here.....*sniffsniff* Oh.....heh heh...
I know it's not funny but you made me chuckle.

Ouch... And I suppose using Vicks under the nose is not acceptable???

At least he was aware enough to check and see if he smelled....
Maybe he just ate prunes of peaches?
I'm with Old NFO. Vicks or Mentholatum wins!
(and, you can breathe better!)
Understood Christina, I'd STILL go with the Vicks though...
Make friendly with your local medical examiner's office.
Figure out what they use to mask the odor of particularly....well aged....ummmm....customers.

I think that's a bad sign in general, but I agree it would be particularly worrisome in your profession :)
