Allergy Update...

Thank you all for your comments and advice on my allergy woes.

Since it's what I had in the house at the time, I've been taking a combo of Claritin and Benadryl, and it helps a lot. My eyes are still bothering me, so I'm going to follow Holly's and Mike W.'s advice of using Visine-A, as soon as I can get to the store later today to buy some.

I think I'll get a sinus rinse at the same time, too. Might as well give it a shot, a lot of folks I know and respect highly recommend it.

I just hope that this misery passes quickly. I HATE having to take pills constantly. At least the Benadryl is helping me sleep better at night...

I hate HATE having a stuffed nose at night. I cannot sleep. If I do fall asleep I will wake with a migraine.

I wonder how many murder sprees are started by a plugged nose?

I love my sinus rinse!!!! I prefer the bottle to the pot. As I seen someone comment on your previous post about local honey, it has worked for some and not for others. If you try it you need to make sure it is VERY local. If my memory serves me right I believe some is made in Gville out towards the lake.

Hope you get better ma'am!!

Benadryl these days isn't what Benadryl used to be - literally. They removed the pseudoephedrine and put in something else. Now, if you'd like to try old-time Benadryl for your allergies, which I find much more effective, here's how to make your own. Add 25mg. pseudoephedrine to 25mg. diphenhydramine hydrochloride.

Have you ever tried a Neti pot? We use 1/4 tspn non-iodine salt (iodine table salt stings), 1/4 tspn baking soda (neutral PH) and 1 tpsn Xylitol which is a natural sweetener. It's anti-fungal & anti-bacterial. You can get it at your local health food store. Really has helped our sinuses.

forgot to add the rest of the recipe. Add the dry ingredients to 1 cup of warm water. Run 1/2 the mixture thru each nostril.

I have this AWESOME stuff for stuffy noses. Perscription stuff leftover from after my jaw surgery. It's packed full of psuedoephedrine.

Can't remember what it's called for the life of me.
