Could someone please explain cat physics to me?

Why the fuck can Pipsqueak effortlessly float to the top of the kitchen counter (where he's not supposed to be), or onto the bed (where he's welcome), but when he jumps onto my lap, he somehow can't make it all the way without employing the pitons claws on his hind feet? And he draws blood, every time. Even after I've clipped his nails.

Little fucker.

He'll hopefully figure out that I don't find it endearing to be dripping blood because of him, and that if he wants to get the lap and the lovin', he needs to be more careful. And it had better be soon, I only have so much unmarred skin left on my thighs!

Don't call him to your lap. Call him next to you.

Who am I kidding? A cat can't be trained... :-P

(I hope you heal)

Calling? Who's calling?! I'm just minding my own business, sitting at my computer desk, and he decides my leg is a tree. :(

In cat rules you exist. Therefore you are a scratching post. Or if you stop moving long enough you are food.

Or a toy.

Seriously, my siamese still does this on occasion. If you can get them, nail covers are a great thing. Or you can just build up enough scar tissue that it doesn't hurt anymore.

The answer has nothing to do with physics. Cats are evil creatures. ;)

I'm with North. Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly...cat's gotta scratch. I've been owned by several.

Animals repeat behavior that was successful in a given situation..That's how he got there the first time that's what he will always do until you alter the outcome.

If my jumping up, screaming, and forcibly removing him from my room are the desired outcome, then yes, he's doing it right.

Yea, they can be a little on the evil side....
Does he just leap without warning or does he put his paws up on you before jumping?

Christina RN LMT said...

No warning whatsoever. Just sudden, searing pain!

So you jump up.Understandably.And he digs in.

Since he takes you by surprise you may need to drape your lap with something heavy and thick.

Glenn, I'm learning! It's quite a painful process, though...
