So, the girls finally caught up with Firefly; we watched the final three episodes on Sunday night. Yesterday was "Serenity" time.
Oh, dear.
The weeping, wailing, and lamentation could be heard far and wide.
Crying copious amounts of tears, her face and shirt-front wet, Silver sat in my room, shaking her fist and shouting, "Curse you, Joss Whedon! Why did you have to kill my favorite character in the whole show?!"
The twins were almost as upset, but they held it together better. Plus, they were objective enough to remark that it really was a very good film. Despite the killing off of favorite characters.
Silver also said there is no way she'll ever be able to re-watch the series, now that she knows how it ends.
Reminds me of me, a few weeks back, getting rid of my entire Anita Blake series.
The apple doesn't fall far, and all that.
I wonder if she'll ever trust me to pick a movie again...

I know Joss W. was trying to wrap up all the storylines, end the River Tam mystery, etc, etc, but we never did get to hear Shepherd Book's sermon with lepers. :)
I really wish he'd been able to do the entire seven-year arc he plotted out. *sigh* It just wasn't meant to be.
They are supposed to have the graphic novel out sometime this year which addresses Shepherd Book's past.... keep an eye out.
oooooh...I need to get the other graphic novels that are available!
Thanks, Sean!
I hope you all watched the bloopers on the DVD.
Of course! They are hilarious! And there's an extended blooper reel on youtube, too. AWESOME.
Alright...I've seen these 'Firefly' references all over B's blog too...I suppose it's time for me to Google it and find out what the heck it is..I feel so...in the dark.
You'll get hooked, I bet!
Just popped in the original series again last night (I re-watch all of them fairly frequently) I will admit some scenes become unintentional tearjerkers thanks to Serenity.
At least Firefly didn't get made for TOO long and become a farce of itself like X-Files, among others.
"Everything's shiny captain."
Weerd, I love Firefly, and I'll rewatch some episodes frequently, too. God, "War Stories" is particularly poignant when you've seen Serenity. I wish there had been more than 14 episodes!
K., shiny is very, very good. :)
I too was disappointed that it ended so prematurely, with so many open ended story lines never closed.
I thought Wash's character was a bit of a weenie, personally, so I wasn't to broke up over him. Of course, Jayne was my favorite character, so that might tell you something...
Wash, a WEENIE?! *sigh* You need to straighten out your perceptions, B.R. Jayne was okay for who and what he was, but he couldn't hold a candle to Wash.
There's always one in the crowd, right? :)
Apparently. ;)
The movie was awesome, but I was still pissed at how he just HAD to kill off two of my favorite characters...not that I didn't like all of them, the cast was a well-rounded bunch that was likable in each of their own different ways. Such a pity that it got majorly Screwed by the Network, because there was definitely something there, like it was a show that could've gone on for seven seasons without jumping the shark.
