Air Show

Most amusing and memorable sentence heard while viewing the Thunderbirds' performance at the 2007 Nellis AFB Air Show:

Silver (with awe): It's like marching band...WITH AIRPLANES!

Most goosebump-inspiring moment: Watching the Thunderbirds perform the "Missing Man" formation, while Taps was playing. Choked me up, too.

Pics to follow.

I really like air shows, but too many accidents.

I was the "Air Boss" a couple of times at our local big air shows. Fun work, stressful work, a lot of great people volunteering a whole lot of their time to assist,

I have to say of all the perfomers I worked with, which by far, was only some of them, the Thunderbirds were the best. They didn't march in like they were running the place, barking orders and treating us like idiots. They were funny, and kind and respectful and accomodating. They genuinely warmed up to the kids and folks that bugged them for autographs. I was duly impressed.

Also - Julie Clark - absolutely the nicest woman flying the circuit out there.

Trashman - I have to admit I was a little nervous during the performance...I lived in Germany when the Ramstein disaster happened, and my oldest brother was an MP there at that time, too.
Life's too short to worry about stuff like that, though, so I tried to just let it go and enjoy the show, and was mostly successful.

Thanks for stopping by!

Skywriter - I can't imagine the stress of being responsible for EVERYTHING during an air show, hats off to you!
Before yesterday, I can't even remember the last time I was at an air show and saw a performance like the Thunderbirds'. I was truly blown away!

Skywriter - It's nice to know that the Thunderbirds aren't assholes. That makes me admire them even more! *sparkly anime chibi eyes of exploding-head-ness*

That's really cute, and silver is SOOOOO clever!

There's a delivery truck company in the DFW area that stages an 18-wheeler ballet exhibition every year on a huge parking lot - it's poetic, all those tractor-trailer rigs in their fluffy pink tutus.

For a moment, I thought you meant the DRIVERS!
