I noticed something that would have been unthinkable in Las Vegas:
There were fifteen cars remaining on the lot, and every last one of them was either black, midnight blue, or dark gray.
Another subtle difference between East Coast and Western desert.

In Texas, it helps to have a lighter paint shade on the cars during the summer. It might make a 1.3, maybe 1.9 degree difference but that is about it.
Last time I was out Nevada way(10+ years), they were having a automotive glass shortage. People were leaving their windows up in the heat wave; resulting in shattered windshields.
Does it even get hot enough up there in the summer for interior heating to be a problem?
Bob, in Vegas you see a LOT of silver, white, or other light-colored cars. Most people choose the fabric seat options as opposed to vinyl or leather, and EVERYONE uses a reflective shield for the windshield and leaves the windows cracked. I think I'm the only person in New England who cracks the windows in the summer. And no, it doesn't really get that hot on the inside of the car here.
