Well, I'd say that different women have different conceptions of where their boobs begin and end, so you were traveling an unmapped territory to begin with.
I'm still completely confused about this stuff. Here: let me make life easier for us, next time (and dammit, lemme pay!): I don't care where on my body you touch me while you are giving me a massage, so long as I do not feel (intense or persistent) pain. I promise that I will not sexualize any touch given to me by my LMT during a massage.
It seems like your license to touch would give license to assume this. Beyond my wife, no one else ever touches (more less effleurage) my nekkid body; a leap of faith has been made when you submit yourself to the ministrations of an LMT.
Seems like sideboob touching is just gonna happen. Like your giggly patient; it's how you perceive the touch.
Suldog, that's a very good point. Everybody (and every BODY) is different.
Old NFO, I tried to minimize my contact with that particular flesh, and I'm confident I succeeded after the first time, anyway!
Mike, I ALWAYS touch heinie! The glutes are an important part of any massage, you use them every time you take a step, after all. Even if my client is wearing underwear I will massage the glutes through the sheet.
Matt, I think women are more sensitive to the issue of "proper" touching than men. They are more likely to be victimized, true? And I've heard of cases of (male) massage therapists taking advantage of their female clients to touch them completely inappropriately.
I always thank my clients after the massage, because I'm well aware of the leap of faith every client takes when they go into the dark room, get naked on the table, and let me touch them. I respect that faith in me and would never abuse it.
Hey, arrange another range date sometime before it gets scorching hot and the massages are on me again!
I always assume that my LMT is a professional, and as such sees my (admittedly somewhat overweight) as just another patient to treat. And just as I wouldn't make my doctor try and diagnose a condition through several layers of clothes, I don't make my LMT try and work over my glutes through underwear. It's a standard issue human body; one each - it's nothing that she hasn't seen before. And I'm just another patient.
These topics are always so interesting for me to read about seeing as though I've never had a professional massage. I would hope to view/experience the situation exactly as Ross stated it, however, I would instinctively go to a female LMT, just as I would *purposely* set my husband up with a male LMT. Incidentally ~ if you sideswiped my boob, Christina, I would not at all feel bothered.

So, I take it there wasn't a happy ending involved THERE, huh?
Can I become your apprentice?
"Billowy" such an interesting way of putting it.
I'm with VI. When do we start?
Typical MEN. Sheesh. ;)
And LMB, no happy endings, EVAR.
Lou, I was actually composing this in my head as I was massaging her, and "billowy" came to mind immediately. It just seemed to fit.

Thank you, Ross! That's EXACTLY how it is for me, and how it should be for all therapists.
