A tip for panhandlers:

If you approach my car and ask me for change, and I tell you, "Sorry, no," do NOT flip me off, okay? You giving me the finger is not going to induce me to magically change my mind and hand over some money to you, nor is it likely to influence any other motorists who might have observed your gesture to be more generous than I.

Just some helpful advice.

I was in Boulder, CO on vacation, spending a couple nights at my best friends Mom's place while I visited.

We went to the store to get some wine for dinner and I saw a panhandler. Boulder's pretty hippie/yuppie and upscale so I was surprised. I might have been tempted to help her until I noticed that the shoes she was wearing (a VERY well groomed lady) cost more than I make in a week. Sorry. No.

He was just letting you know that he felt that you were #1, right?

Brigid, I don't blame you!
Sheesh.

Buckskins Rule, I'd prefer NOT to be #1 in his book!
Thanks very much. :)

Ever been to San Francisco? Some of the panhandlers there are downright scary. Srsly.

Buck, I've been, but I didn't notice at the time (1990).
