Downsides to weight-loss

Not only is it a mixed blessing to lose so much weight that brand-spankin' new pants I bought just a few weeks ago are getting baggy already, but now I'm losing my ass.

And that's not good.

I never want to be straight up-and-down in the back, like my Mom and Grandpa ended up!

More squats, Christina. Do more squats...

squats & lunges and the dreaded cross-trainer (or elliptical as some people call it) and then there's the stepper ... eeek .. all designed to give you a nicely toned butt :)

Good to hear that the weight loss is going well - i'm taking a break from it for a bit ...

OK. . give. . what's your secret. I gained 22 pounds in the last 5 years. I'm tall, so it's not too obvious but I still want to lose it. I've lost 9 but the rest are NOT budging.

Any hints, oh successful one.

Julie, I'm doing it all! There was a couple working out at the fitness center of the spa I work at, and the woman had the MOST PERFECT ASS I've ever seen. The (female) front desk coordinator and (female) spa attendant had noticed her as well, and when I sighed and said, "I want that woman's ass," they knew exactly what I was talking about and chorused, "Yeah, me too!"

Brigid, I really don't know what to tell you. I'm on a diet high on protein and very low on carbs (because I'm preparing for my post-bariatric diet), I work out like a fiend (almost every day). I eat a lot less than I used to. I eat much more slowly than I used to. I don't drink anything carbonated, I don't drink alcohol, and now I've cut the caffeine as well, which truly has been torturous. I don't think I'd be as successful with this weight loss thing if I could cook like you...I wouldn't want to deprive myself! I'm also pretty sure that those last few pounds are difficult for everyone to lose, so don't give up! It might be that just a small change in your diet or habits will get you off your plateau. Good luck, my friend!

Oh, forgot one of the most important things: I drink gallons and gallons of water!

Ah. Yet another installment of "things women can say but men CAN'T." Context, of course, being the thing that matters... ;-)

Thanks, Blondie!

Buck, the moment the words left my mouth, I realized they could be taken the wrong way, but as I said, the other two gals knew just what I meant!

thanks Christine - I have really bad days (see yesterday's post) but most times when I make and photograph and really yummy meal, it's on a 7 or 9 inch plate. Small portions of really good food. Use a smaller plate and it seems like more.

I'll try your tips. . perhaps my body just wants those extra pounds, I'm not 30 any more, and I feel great so we'll see.

I wish I could give you a little. Ass is one thing I never lose. Even when I was thin enough that my boobs were small, I had a junky trunk. Oh well.

Brigid, as long as you FEEL good, don't worry about it!

Phlegmmy, baby got back! And there's nothing wrong with that.
