Random

Limousines don't automatically have the right-of-way.

There, now that I've got that out of my system, let me ask you something:
Do you find it more difficult to be rude to people or polite? Which requires more effort for you?
'Cause I've got to say, I find it pretty much impossible to be rude!

Unlike the guest we had in today.

Phrases heard: "I'm a college educated business professional!"
"I feel I'm being degraded!"
"No, you're not trying to "make sure we're on the same page", you are implying I'm too stupid to understand a spa menu!"

And so on, and so forth. Her tone was so bad, her embarrassed husband fled the reception area and apparently hid around the corner until she was finished.
Everything we said to her, she viewed as an attack.
How can you go through life that way, with such a huge chip on your shoulder, thinking everyone is out to get you?
I wasn't so much offended by her, rather almost bemused. Like observing some strange species of animal on TV.
What set her off? She was requesting a massage which overlapped a massage she was already scheduled to receive in a package she booked. We were just trying to avoid her wasting her money, etc. She didn't quite see it that way!
Needless to say, she was a lousy tipper (I'm just amazed she tipped at all!).
Anyway, it was a very interesting day!

Addendum to randomness:
TOTALLY smokin' guy walked in to get a massage. He smelled sooooo good and he had a piercing gaze (I've been reading far too many romance novels!)
After he was escorted back to the men's spa, his fragrance (NOT odor!) lingered around the reception area. Ahhhhhh.
After A. came to pick up his ticket, we told her how hot he was, and she just rolled her eyes at us, consummate professional that she is. Funny, how just a few minutes later she raced up to the reception as Smokin' Guy was getting situated in the treatment room, fanning her face with both hands and stating that she didn't know if this was going to work. We just laughed mockingly! She even said she had trouble looking directly at him! Making eye contact, that is. Well, HE was a good tipper!

The chances that somebody says something as stupid as that again are rare, but if the ever do, ask them how much schooling they've had, and what was there GPA? Chances are, they're frauds.

Problem is, that sort of response only escalates the situation (unfortunately!). We have to defuse it by basically sucking it up. It's called customer service!
Of course, you should have heard what we called her AFTER she left!

I always ask nicely. It turns the tables immediately. I've never rubbed my college education in somebody's face, and anybody who does is not very well educated.

LOL....that's all I have to say! I still can't believe her! How did she end up with a husband?

U 4got this part! "I've been to some of the most expensive spa's in Vegas and they REQUIRE u to be naked!" If so, then y did u ask me what to leave on? I'm stumpped!

Yay! I'm glad you stopped by, 4chun cookie (how politically incorrect of us!).
I didn't hear that part of the tale until today, that's why it's not in the post, but thanks for sharing. She was a wench, wasn't she?! See you tomorrow!

Dick - Yeah, I've known for quite some time that only very insecure people keep harping on their education, it's almost embarrassing.
I just wish I could have replied to her, "And I've got a PhD in Molecular Biology, so what?!"
I do have to go back to school and get my degree(s), but only for myself, not to shove them into people's faces.

A job in customer service gives you opportunities to meet all kinds of "interesting" people, doesn't it?

Absolutely, Sonja!
I have more to tell...

OMG....here I was back 4rm break and the phones are ringing off the hook. I'm alone cuz the "girls" went to lunch. I answer, the voice sounds familiar, I look at the caller ID and guess who? Mrs. Wench! Knowing her - attitude, I went out of my way to be as nice as I can and watched what I said. Conversation as follows:

Me: (Greeting) Good evening, what can I help u with 2day Mrs. Wench?

Wench: I would like to schedule a SBS if u have any openings later this afternoon for my husband and myself.

Me: Our 1st available is at 1 with female therapists for the 50 min service.

Wench: That sounds great! How do I go "abouts" booking the SBS?

Me: (hmm u've been to spa's b4 and ur asking me how to book a couples massage?) We do have the room available for that time slot so u just need to pick the type of massage and the room will be a request. Theres no extra fee for that.

Wench: Ok, well I'll have the Sports and a Swedish for my husband.

Me: Sounds great Mrs. Wench, I'll go ahead and set that up for u. We'll see u here at 12:30. By the way, we still have ur purchase 4rm the other day and it was on sale for 1/2 off.

Wench: Ooo thanks so much, I'll be sure to take it with me this afternoon.

Me: Alright then, see u then.

Needless to say, I think she took her meds cuz she was VERY nice! It was interesting. I still felt like I was walking on glass! =)

I don't blame you, 4chun Cookie!
When someone has gone out of their way to give you the impression that they will take offense to everything you say, it's hard NOT to be a little nervous when dealing with them!
We're off to Pet-a-palooza now, we're going to meet up with A. and her hubby (and dogs).
I'll see you Monday!
