Yes.

Yes, Ms. Walmart Cashier Lady, pickles are indeed former cucumbers. I know it's weird, but that doesn't make it untrue.

LOL! Of course they are! Even better if they are made from an Aunt's garden!

Cucumber or pickle they're both gross.

Confuse her even more by saying cucumbers are pickles on the hoof!

And prunes were once plums, raisins were once grapes and walnuts are dried cat's brains.

Dare you to tell her!

People like this are the reason we'll never get rid of the Nigerian 419 scams.

Heh.....
I've confused more than one person by calling them zombie cucumbers. It fits though....you put a normal cuke in with the zombies and it becomes a zombie. Well, eventually....

Mike W. - Don't tell that to my twin sister. She's pickle-obsessed!

Yummmmm, pickles! I've turned into the mad pickler the past couple years. Didn't do so well with cukes in the garden this year.

My first attempt was 2009. Dusted off Grandma's recipe. I put up 52 qts of dill before the fam' started hollering for me to stop. I wasted at least that many more on the vine. After the fam' tasted them they regretted asking me to close up shop early.

Just finished the last jar around Thanksgiving 2010. Gave a few as gifts.

Canning sure makes for a hot, humid house -- and have to work around meal prep. Didn't notice it as a kid up north. I'm putting a gas stove top outside on the patio for canning next season.

I've never done any pickling or canning, though I used to help my Grandma (Oma) on occasion. She made the BEST plum jam EVAR. And pickled pumpkin. Yum.

Julie, the cashier just randomly asked us. We weren't buying either cucumbers nor pickles, so yes, it was odd of her to ask.

My cashier just says paper or plastic. Guess I'm boring. :-)
