I've always based my tips on the service instead of the total. Sometimes the tips are more than the cost. More often than not the tips aren't that great, simply because the service sucked. There's just no pride in a job well done anymore.
Trash, absolutely! Of course if you didn't like the service, you should tip (or not!) accordingly. But if you really enjoyed it, don't tip me $6.50 just because our special is "$100 massage for $65". Grrrr. I'm the best tipper for good service out there, but if the waitress is terrible, or the food inedible, I won't leave jack shit. And I take a great amount of pride in doing the absolute best massage I can. Even when I'm falling asleep and drooling!
6.50 on a 65.00 massage? I would think at least 20.00 on a massage. Plus the closer to the coin purse she gets, the tip gets bigger not mention the unmentionable.
100.00 gets a base tip of 20.00 and then it will go up or down according to the service. This pretty much goes for any service I pay for (erm, that came out wrong) ie massage, restaurant, car wash.
FYI this is acosenza2 from the GunBlogger Conspiracy chat....nice blog you have here.

Sheesh, do I have to hold your hand to help you cross the street, too?!
Well, in my case: most definitely. You can hold my hand any time, Christina!
But then I'd be too distracted to look both ways...;)
