If you folks recall, I interviewed for a part-time job two weeks ago. I thought the interview itself went brilliantly. The manager and I had a rapport, and I can bullshit my way (in a sincere fashion!) through just about anything. The audition didn't go as well, I guess. I'm philosophical about it, I have to be. Not everyone is going to like my massage; it's unfortunate in this case that it really, really mattered whether my "client" liked it.
What pisses me off is that they haven't had the courtesy to give me a call or send an e-mail to let me know they're not interested. I find that very rude and unprofessional. I called the day after my interview, just to tell them thanks for giving me the opportunity, etc. No response. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
I'm at the point now that if they called me tomorrow and offered me the job, I'd tell them to fuck off.
It's probably for the best. In October we're running a VIP promotion for the entire month, and I'll probably be working plenty of extra shifts anyway, and my surgery is on November 5, so I'll be taking some time off. Yeah, gotta look for that silver lining, right?
*sigh*

I had the same thing happen when I interviewed for teaching jobs last summer. At one school, I called two or three times and left messages. Honestly - how difficult could it be to politely let me down?! Grrr.
right
Sonia, doesn't it make you wonder, "Just how bad WAS I?!"
Losers.
Putz - Don't you know by now I'm always right?
I once interviewed with a company, and the VP told me I was the person they wanted for the job. We walked back to the HR office, and the VP told them I was the person they wanted to hire.
HR told me they would call with the offer. Nothing. They never called. I called several times, and even showed up (the HR person was "out of the office"). The company went under 4 months later.
Honey - they would've been lucky to have you, and it speaks ill of their entire organization that they didn't at least send you a follow-up letter thanking you for applying. Their loss.

Yep. Coz if this is the way they treat people interviewing, I don't think you'd want an "up close and personal" view of the way they treat actual employees. First impressions DO matter, on both sides of the table.
10% - Sounds like you made a lucky escape! But frustrating, nonetheless!
Phlegmmy - Thank you! Considering the fact that they sent ME a recruitment letter, which is the only reason I interviewed with them in the first place, they really didn't do a good job with the follow-through, now did they?!
Buck - Exactly. Lots of little things I noticed at the time have been niggling at me, making me think I should probably be counting my blessings right about now.
If the company isn't professional enough to grant you the kindness of a yes or a no in an appropriate amount of time, that may not be the best company to be employeed with! That sends a GIANT red flag up for me. If they aren't professional in their hiring practices, what else are they lax in??
THANK you, BF. That's exactly what I mean...who knows what goes on there, right?
