PSA

If you're not sure how to spell something, look it up or ask for help.

That way we can avoid having excrescences like "periformace" and "soreatick" crop up in our clients' charts. Which are legal documents, after all...

Excrescences! Excellent word!

I see idiotic misspellings all day. And the shame of it is that they appear in scripts to be read by voice talents. So, not only does the misspelling reflect badly on the person who wrote it, it also has a chance (if it results in an actual other word that was not intended) of totally changing the meaning of the ad or telephone recording for which the person has paid us.

BTW, the words they were looking for were "piriformis" (as in the muscle) and "psoriatic" (as in psoriatic arthritis). Sigh.

Jim, that is truly sad. I also cringe hearing that stupid stuffed animal commercial, where they're advertising the "mis-CHEEEEE-vee-ous monkey". It makes me froth at the mouth.
