I came into work while it was raining. When I left eight hours later, it was fucking SNOWING.
Snowing. In October. Before Halloween.
I had to scrape my car off. In October.
I know, I know: "Welcome to New England!"
I need some warmer, water-proof shoes.

When I was still young enough to trick-or-treat, costumes were always sized to fit over a winter coat and potentially snowpants as well.
Around 1990 we had 14" of snow on Hallowe'en night.
Never had a Halloween in North Dakota without wearing a snowmobile suit under my costume. I suggest Goretex, lots and lots of Goretex and wool.
BTW if you want to send me size and vague desires (like "Coat" or "Waterproof Shoes")

I highly recommend insulated work boots for winter wear rather than the standard "winter boots". A good pair of work boots is water proof, well insulated, and has much better tread than half the fancy winter boots sold.
Though Weerd's suggestion of LLBean is a good one.

I got some of these for the winter...and I live near your old place so I'm not expecting quite the same weather that you will be getting, but if we have a repeat of last year I'm prepared. Warm, weather proof boots are a necessity up here. You'd be amazed at how many people I see walking through snow wearing sneakers.
Warm socks too. Wool is best.
And a nice winter Parka as well.

TOTWTYTR, I have a lovely parka and snowpants. They will keep me toasty. But I definitely need some proper footwear!
