Going to Cabela's...

...makes me wet.

Seriously, just walking across the parking lot towards the store, where I would be able to fondle all the lovely handguns, was sufficient.

Stupid rain. Should have brought my umbrella.

  1. Why didn't you just say "I'm going to have bacon and THEN go to Cabelas?"

Arghhhh. still stuck at home with my stupy little inhaler. Next weekend, I have to go find one.

  2. Mmmmm, bacon...that would have made my visit EPIC! But we did buy some eyes and ears and jerky while we were there!

You need to baby yourself, Brigid. Pneumonia is nothing to sneeze at, no pun intended at all, of course! ;)

  3. Going to Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops makes me moist around the naughty bits, too.

    Even when it doesn't rain.

  4. Enjoy and leave the credit cards in the car... :-) That's what I have to do!

  5. So all I saw in my reader was that first line - and I thought to myself "holy cow, is she seriously being that crass?"...so I came over and read the post. You are too much! I've never been to a Cabelas...but you sure make me want to find one!!

  6. Don't worry Shannon I was the same way - was wondering how blatant of a gunnie post we were getting!

Glad you had fun Christina - I need money to go gun shopping soon...

  8. I'll be in my bun... Oh wait, never mind.

Glad you had a good time. I can walk around Bass Pro for hours just looking at things. Glad you and the girls had a good time. Did you find any shooty things that wanted to come home with you?

  9. Heh, my evil plan to get y'all to come over here worked! ;)

Seriously, I got soaked. At least I wasn't wearing a white t-shirt, that would have been embarrassing!

We had so much fun! Lots of interesting gear, gunnie and otherwise, and taxidermy and an aquarium. A fun time was had by all!

Got the girls to hold handguns for the first time. We tried out a variety of Glocks, a Bersa, some S&W revolvers, and the piece de resistance, a Ruger Super Blackhawk. *sigh* I want one BAD. In some things, size DOES matter.

  10. The Super Blackhawk is a good revolver, but for a pistol that will truly cause everyone to stop shooting and look over, you should google the Smith and Wesson .44 Magnum Silhouette. My Father gave his to me, and it is truly a show stopper.

Re: Cabela's. Too many choices, so little money. I sometimes miss the mystique of their catalog.

  11. Buckskins Rule, it's almost painful to walk through a store like that with an empty wallet. And if your wallet *is* full, it'll be sure to be empty before you leave!

I have a warm glow in my heart for the Super Blackhawk, ever since Stingray let me play with his at Blogorado last year. So. Much. Fun.

    I would love a Cabela's in Canada.
We have a Bass Pro, but I bought the best pair of boots ever from Cabela's mail order . 8 (EIGHT!!) years later the heel disintigrated; (note, the boots were still in good shape, not worn out) and I sent them a note about getting them repaired. They sent me a new pair.

As for guns, your're gonna make me cry.

  13. Awww, I'm sorry, Paul!

You really need to come in out of the cold, so to speak. Guns are fun.

Nope; I love the cold! (for long boring medical reasons)
12 years in the Canadian Army and Ive fired everything up to a TOW.(Not as cool as a 106!) I have a collection of long guns, and a Colt Python (Wanna see my Python?
oops! please forgive me). I did have a few others when I lived in St Louis for 5 years, but was forced to sell them when I moved back to the great white north. The python was a recent purchase; you would not believe the paperwork you have to go thru up here.
    The hunting is great though.

  15. Right, because making it more and more difficult for law-abiding citizens to own firearms somehow makes everyone safer. *rolls eyes*

I'd LOVE to see your Python! Pics, plz!

    What do you hunt?

The Majestic moose! not for a few years to be honest, but I try to get out for whittail every year.( I might actually buy a digital camera one of these days) I also like to hunt small game; a pal has a thing for squirel.

the first was with a 30-06 at 120m, the second, 7mm rem mag at around 300m. We had some fun getting that on out, I tell you. both dropped where they stood. I roll my own ammo,
and I used to be a pretty good shot.
I was a small arms instructor in the army in the 80's, and we had an excellent shooting program, based on the Brtish shoot-to-live program.
It went downhill after we went to 5.56mm.

C'mon, tell me what you REALLY think...
