While I'm still going through shooting pics...

Here's a little something to tide y'all over!

Two songs. Different eras (one from 1982, the other 1998), one New Wave, the other Techno/Metal. One British band, the other German. You might wonder what I'm getting at, but these songs do have something in common: subject matter! The songs are almost identical in subject matter: pursuit of the female. The Rammstein song is even titled "Du Riechst So Gut" which means "You smell so good." Anyway, I love both songs and both videos, so I thought I'd put 'em up here.

Enjoy!

Yes, I have rather eclectic tastes.

  1. The Rammstein video has an odd ... 'Schindler's List' quality to it. Must be the B&W/desaturated scenes mixed with the vibrant red dress...

Probably NOT their intent, but I liked it, either way.

  2. I love that video so much! I've watched it so many times, and I keep noticing details I missed the previous times.

I have yet to see Schinder's List, I tend to avoid movies that I know will depress me.

I'm glad you liked it, too. :)

Links 2,3,4 is my favorite. A good DVD is "Lichtspeilhaus" it's cheap, and packed with goodies. The latest video "P***y", is way over the top.

  4. Ah Rammstein...one of my daughter's favorites. I've heard my share for sure! (Although my favorite is their performance in XXX)

  5. Paul, I own Lichtspielhaus and have watched many times, though not in the past few years. I see I'll have to rectify that! I have yet to see the video for "Pussy" (Yes, you may actually type it out here if you like!). "Links, 2, 3, 4" is a very good one, too. Evil ants!

Shannon, that's one of my favorites, too! "Feuer Frei" (which translates to "Fire at Will"!)

If you ever get the chance, go see them live, ie; the "family values" tour.
"live Aus Belin" and "Volkerball" are good, but the VHS version of Live aus berlin, has the unedited version of "Buch Dich", well worth a laugh. I can post a link to the unedited version of "Pussy" when I get home if you like.

  7. I've seen "Live aus Berlin", don't have "Voelkerball" yet. "Bueck Dich" is hilarious!
    Thanks, Paul! I'd appreciate it!

  12. If you listen to the lyrics of Hungry Like a Wolf, he already HAS the female and is um, just trying to uh, , , '

Well read the lyrics. I didn't know either til Mr.80's graduate RB pointed it out. But then again, I thought 9 inch nails was about fingers.

  13. You mean it's NOT about long fingernails?!

    D'oh!

    Hrm.

I've sung "Hungry Like the Wolf" in Rockband (and done a GREAT job, btw. ;)), and I still thought the song was about pursuing his prey. I'll have to go back and re-read the lyrics with a more critical eye (and mind). Thanks, B.!
