I don't love my job.

Really, I don't. It's pretty much the antithesis of the kind of nursing I want to do.

But you know what? At least I HAVE a job in nursing! Many of my classmates are still struggling to find their first position.

And I'm learning a ton. And I'm getting paid (not very well, and I get no benefits, but still...making money as a NURSE!)

And I'm still looking and applying for hospital jobs all over the place. I'm now licensed in MA, NH, and TX. I have an important interview scheduled in a little over a week at a hospital in NH, we'll see how that goes.

Fingers crossed!

My daughter just graduated last week and luckily found a job - in West Michigan, where she didn't really want to be, but at least its a job (now lets hope she passes the boards). My wife is a nurse at a small hospital in West MI also, and hates the politics and management by fear and intimidation, but still works because "at least it is a job". Nurses are paid about 1/2 of what they are worth! You're doing the right thing - good luck in your interview!

Have quite a few relatives and friends in the medical fields - clinicians mostly. Most have had to start with positions they did not like and had to move two or three times to get where they want to be. Settling for the short term is a necessity but don't settle for the long term. Keep looking and moving until you find what suits you. We spend too much of our lives working to do it at something that makes us miserable.

Best of luck! And NH ain't half bad. Do you ski?

Thanks to both of you!

Knucklehead, I used to ski. Badly...very badly. While it was very fun, I don't think my forty-something body would shake off all the tumbles as well as my 17-year-old body did, so I think I'll pass. Wouldn't mind going tubing or sledding, though!

First steps... You've been there before! You WILL succeed again!

Keeping digging.

Somewhere under that manure, there has to be a pony.

And the nursing jobs pendulum swings back and forth constantly.

Nursing jobs are plentiful in Anchorage, AK. And the fact you would be living just this side of paradise isn't so bad, either.
