Hopeless

One of my colleagues, a mid-twenties female, has no clue who Joseph Stalin was. I weep for humanity.

But this is what they hoped and planned for!

@Old NFO - you can lead a whore to water, but you can't make her think!

I was in the dentist's chair this morning, and the dentist said something offhand about George McGovern. The dental assistant said, "Who?", and meant it. Oh, well. Not quite as egregious as not knowing Stalin, but it still made me shudder.

When you're talking to a co-worker, and you realize that you saw the first moon landing live, whereas he/she treats the tale like it was a recounting of going over the trenches at Verdun in WWI, you'll probably just succumb to the urge to go to Denny's and Sizzler to pre-register for your senior citizen discounts, and start browsing through medical equipment catalogs to pick out the snazziest walker.

Aesop, I have many posts about the fuckedupness of getting AARP junk mail, when I'm only in my early forties. Actually, I've been getting that crap since right before I turned 40, I believe. ARGH.

Yeah, hand me my cane and get off my lawn!
