Yep. The first time I got to one as a Mainer I yielded to oncoming traffic and I was honked at angrily.

So I guess I had the right-of-way so I just barreled in and got honked at.

Now I just get my Mad-Max on and go for maximum kill-count. Works best that way.

LOL! They installed a few of those in downtown Okc. Heaven forbid two or more okies should come together in one. We have no idea how to operate those weird things!

Sounds like my 4 way stop down here!

heh, my mom (who grew up in the midwest) still tells about her first experience with a rotary, similer to Weer'd's but then once she was on she couldn't figure out how to get to the exit she wanted....

I lived for 10 years in places where people drive on the left side, and traffic circles go clockwise.

Within two days of returning to the states, I hit a traffic circle.

The local cops were not amused.

We have a few of those around here. They confuse the hell out of me.

DEATH BEFORE YIELDING!

I'm learning that you have to be a super-aggressive driver to get ANYWHERE around here. Merging onto the highway? Force your way into traffic!

It's pretty nerve-wracking sometimes, because I'm in my tiny tincan of a car.

I LOVE roundabouts/rotaries... they're much more efficient than stop signs or traffic lights. And they're great sporting opportunities, too. I had me some Big Fun with 'em in Ol' Blighty, both in the car and on the mo'sickle. ;-)

The roundabout is working its way into our neighborhood as well. Should be interesting to see how many pieces are missing because they were carved off by snowplows.

Then there is the issue of snow and ice. When a car loses traction it travels in a fairly straight line. I wonder how many cars will end up perched atop the decorative plantings in the middle this winter?
