Band Geeks Rule.

Silver signed up to be in the Pride of the North Marching Band at UND. I'm so stoked!
If you click on the link, you'll see that the football team (The Fighting Sioux) is now Division I. Woo-hoo! (Not that I really have any clue what that means...)
But it DOES mean that the band will accompany the team to an away game...in TEXAS!
In September at Texas Tech. Maybe some of my readers will be watching the game and see Silver perform with the band during half-time...she's the tiny, extremely pale kid playing clarinet!

In other college news, Silver will be taking seven classes her first semester:

English 125 - Technical and Business Writing
Math (to be determined by placement testing)
Honors 101 - Inquiry in the Humanities
Computer Science 160 - Computer Science I (she's majoring in Computer Science)
Space Studies 200 - Introduction to Space Studies (She wants to get her Masters in Space Studies)
Music 271 - University Band (this is Concert Band)
Music 272 - Marching/Athletic Band

Obviously she'll be very busy. But busy kids are less likely to get into trouble, right? Not that I really have to worry about her in that regard.

Oh, and she just got a letter informing her of the scholarship she's received. $1000 per year for four years. Yays! Of course, the letter states she must join at least one college organization...she's going to call them and see if band qualifies!

And she wants to get a job, too...hmmmm. Busy, busy.

I'm so proud of her (obviously)!

GO, SILVER!

Tell Silver I just did the tongue-out-with-devil-horns in her honor. :)

Awwww, thanks, Phlegmmy!
I'll let her know for sure tomorrow morning!

Um... you aren't going to want to hear this, but I got into all my "trouble" because I was in marching band. Away games were the best! The university gave us "meal" money that we promptly went out and bought alcohol with to party in the hotel. Granted that was a decade ago, but still... good times.... good times.

Blondie, don't shatter my illusions, please! *lol*
Hey, I know how these things go. I was in choir, and we got up to ALL SORTS of stuff on concert trips...

I was in Theater [called Drama Club back then.] We always lurved "Contest" because we were away from home and teach couldn't possibly keep an eye on everyone.

BTW, I have two nieces working for NASA at the Orlando campus. One is the youngest Ass't Dept. Head. Should Silver ever want to talk to them, I'll hook her up.

GOOD on Silver! Too cool!

re: "(She wants to get her Masters in Space Studies)"

Ahem. I have a PhD in Space Studies. Err... that would be "SpacING Studies." Never mind.

Holly, thank you so much! I'll be sure to let Silver know, it's so kind of you to help out!

Buck, I know ALL about your checkered past...;)

Tally, you crack me up.

Seven classes? Wow... she's gonna be busy for sure... sounds like she's doing you proud...

Kevin, I'm extremely proud of her, and I think she's going to be exhausted, but that she'll do just fine. She's used to a heavy work load at school and dealing with band and orchestra, so it'll be nothing new...except of course that she'll be on her own!
