Rich people are cheap...

or they can be...

I'm simply overwhelmed by this client's generosity.

Now you must excuse me, please.

I have to go see if anyone wants to buy a kidney, slightly used...

EDIT: I wanted to add that this was a pre-tip, too. In case you were thinking, "Well, maybe the services sucked and the client didn't think you guys deserved more!"

Thanks for all your support!

This lady was nice as could be, too. And she absolutely got the same quality of massage as anyone else, because as much as I bitch, I AM a professional, after all!
But did I feel a little kernel of resentment? You betcha.

See, you guys might see the price of the massage and go, WHOA, but I only get a 31% commission on the revenue I generate for the spa. So tips are of huge importance! That particular day, for example, I brought in $400 for the spa, so my commission was $124. I work a ten hour shift, so I made $12.40 an hour. And that just sucks. But if I make good tips...? It makes a giant difference.

So tip your service providers well, Folks! Provided they do a good job, of course.

That's just disgusting.

I just tipped the pizza boy $5 on a $20 pizza delivery from a store that is less than 2 miles from my home.

Last weekend, we went to Keagan's (Irish pub) and ate $50 worth of food. I tipped 15% because the service was good. We also drank $30 worth of alcohol afterward and the service STUNK (as in, waitress couldn't be found anywhere and when found was SLOOOW) and she got $5 as a tip!

M*G, you'd be amazed at some of my clients. And not in a good way, either. And I bet all of them would tip the pizza guy the same as you, and think nothing of tipping me a five. Weird.

That sucks.

I wish you could educate people. I really think some people think you get half to seventy five percent of the bill, so they think "that's enough"., Well it's not. You add in your education and training, the time, effort and care, that's less, percentage wise, than they'd tip the person who cleared their table at the breakfast buffet.

On spa services, I think 15 percent is a minimum. . 20 if they're good. I'll do more around holidays as well when they're swamped and work me in.

Brigid, I lurve you! YOU need to educate people! When I do it, I come off as greedy...;)

Self indulgence is what I'm seeing here. She doesn't mind spending utrageous amounts to pamper herself, but she tips as much on $200 as she does on $90? That's just selfish and cheap.

Holly, we see it all the time. BUT our new boss has changed our entire system as of tomorrow (my first day back at work), and we'll have check presenters like at a restaurant, with the check inside for guests to sign directly after their service. Checks that have a line for gratuity right on 'em, yays!
